HOW TO CLEAN FRUIT & BERRY STAINS:
Always sponge fresh stains promptly with cool water before they
have time to set. Some, such as citrus, are invisible when dry;
aging or heating turns them yellow and then they are hard to
remove. Never use soap and water first on fruit stains. It may
set them permanently.
-
- Always sponge such stains promptly
with cool water. This simple treatment will remove many of them
if you acted quickly enough. Or soak them with cool water for
30 minutes or more. Some may need to be soaked overnight. After
sponging or soaking, work undiluted liquid detergent into the
stain and rinse. If the stain remains, you will have to use a
bleach*. Old stains and stains that have been set by heat are
in the "difficult-if-not-impossible-to-remove" category.
- On non washable fabrics, sponge
the stain with cool water or put a sponge over it and squirt
cool water through the cloth with a small syringe or medicine
dropper.
-
- If the fabric will stand it,
poor small amounts of boiling water on it from a height of 1
to 3 feet (mind the tootsies).

to remove spots, always test fabric for colorfastness first by
applying a small amount of the cleaning solution or chemical
on a hidden or unnoticeable area. The tips listed here are NOT
guaranteed to work in every case and may have a negative affect.
When using any chemical or liquid on fabric you should PROCEED
WITH CAUTION. If you are unsure as to how your carpet or upholstery
