TIPS ON HOW TO REMOVE INK
STAINS AND CLEAN INK SPOTS:
Ink uses moisture, in this case, ink; as a vehicle to spread.
It must be properly handled and cleaned. Always use caution and
remember these helpful tips:
1) Be sure, as you clean, to
work from the outside of the stain towards the center. Keep it
as dry as possible in order to prevent the stain from spreading.
2) You should use an absorbent
substance such as corn meal or cornstarch to absorb the ink and
the solvent as you clean. Keep removing the stained absorbent
substance and apply more until no more ink is absorbed. This
will help prevent the ink from spreading and thus causing a much
larger problem.
3) Mix some of the absorbent
substance with water (or half water and half alcohol) to form
a paste and put it on the stain. Allow the paste to dry, then
brush it off. Repeat a number of times if necessary.
4) Finally, much success has
been found by using hair-spray on such stains. But you still
must follow the WARNING guidelines below as you proceed.
BALLPOINT: Since some types will wash out, while
others will be set by washing, test first by making a mark on
a similar material in an inconspicuous area. If the stain will
not wash out of your sample, you will need to use something containing
an acetone, amyl acetate, or ammonia. Sponge the stain repeatedly.
For a stubborn stain, apply the solvent, thn water, then a bleach.
Repeat as many times as necessary. Return
